Square Enix has announced that Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II will release for Nintendo Switch 2 in the coming months.
This has further optimised Acquire‘s critically-acclaimed HD-2D RPGs for the portable home console, with both games now running “with improved resolution and frame rate.”
Sadly, it has been confirmed that there are no plans to sell an Upgrade Pack for those who already own either game for the original Nintendo Switch, and any existing save data is incompatible between the two versions.
“There are no plans to sell an upgrade pack to upgrade the Nintendo Switch version to the Nintendo Switch 2 version,” the publisher writes in a message to close today’s reveal trailer. “Save data is incompatible between the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions.”
Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 1 October 2026. The games will also be available in a digital bundle.
