Nintendo Switch is powered by a custom Tegra processor, and NVIDIA has praised Nintendo for the portable home console’s “ground-breaking design.”
The high-efficiency scalable processor has a GPU based on the same architecture “as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards,” and, after the company reported profits and revenue that were much stronger than analysts had expected, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang attributed that success once again to Nintendo’s constant desire to take risks.
“One major component of it is the Nintendo Switch gaming console, and it’s just doing incredibly well,” Huang explained to investors.
“I’m so happy for Nintendo because they’re risk takers. They’re innovators. They’re not influenced by what other people do, and they’re original thinkers. And I just love the way they invented the Switch and the way they’ve taken it to market. I’m so happy for them. And it’s doing really well.”
