The NPD Group, a US market research firm, has revealed the highest-grossing videogames released for the current generation of consoles.
The firm passed the data, which ranks games by their gross retail sales, which wasn’t adjusted for inflation, to CNBC. It must be remembered then, that such parameters mean that games bundled with peripherals will have somewhat an advantage here.
It is unsurprising to see the list dominated by the likes of Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock, which sits at the top of the list, further entries in the series also appearing. The first Rock Band from Harmonix also makes the top ten, and is the only title not published by Activision or Nintendo.
Unsurprisingly, the Call of Duty series makes its presence known, with Modern Warfare, its sequel, and Black Ops all hitting the mark.
Nintendo are also able to clinch four places, with Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii.
