We know that all the characters that have ever appeared in the mascot brawler will make a return in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but what about the stages that they will battle it out on?

Famitsu has reported on a press-only live demonstration and question and answer session, in which Nintendo of America’s Bill Trinen and Nate Bihldorff talked about the hotly anticipated Nintendo Switch exclusive.

That has since been translated by Source Gaming, which has revealed that not every stage will make a return.

It isn’t news that you should necessarily be disappointed about. After analysing all the gameplay footage from the playable build that was used for E3 2018, 84 new and returning stages have been identified which has left 31 stages missing in action.

For comparison’s sake, the original Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 64 had 9 stages, Super Smash Bros. Melee on GameCube had 29 stages, Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii had 41 stages, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS had 42 stages, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U had 55 stages.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 7th.
