Square Enix game director and character designer has teased that the company has “a secret team working on an unannounced title”, during an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

Nomura joined the Japanese magazine to discuss the forthcoming release of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream, Drop, Distance, which is due to launch in Japan on March 29th for Nintendo 3DS. In closing, he was asked for his outlook in regards to 2012, to which Nomura touched on the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts series celebrating their respective 25th and 10th anniversaries, more news regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the release of Final Fantasy X HD.

Yet it was his last remark that will set the Internet alight with speculation, as he teased a secret studio was currently hard at work.

“There is also a secret team working on an unannounced title, so there is a chance that some information about that will be announced this year too, please continue looking forward to these announcements”, Nomura teased, translated by Sqex.info.

Nomura previously hinted at a return of Nintendo DS cult classic The World Ends With You in September last year, key characters of which are set to appear within Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream, Drop, Distance.

If the franchise did return it would assumedly hit Nintendo 3DS, although the Wii U’s touchscreen controller could also play home to the game’s unique gameplay designs.

What do you think the secretive project could be?
