The Nobunaga’s Ambition series has a storied history with Nintendo systems, so it will perhaps come as no surprise that Koei Tecmo Games plan for it to make a return by releasing the latest iteration on Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo Everything reports that Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence is likely to be mercilessly charging toward the home gaming console, after Koei Tecmo announced the news on a NicoNico livestream.

“Today I’d like to deliver one piece of surprise news for the audience,” Koei Tecmo Games president and CEO Yoichi Erikawa (also known as Kou Shibusawa) shared. “We will make a Nintendo Switch version of Nobunaga’s Ambition!”

Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura was shocked at the sudden announcement, replying: “Wait a sec! Even Nintendo hasn’t revealed any of the titles for Switch! Probably this is… the first Switch title announcement in the world.”

Shibusawa added that, while Nintendo may be annoyed, he couldn’t resist sharing the news: “Right. I couldn’t hold it. [laugh] I said it, so I can’t back out. Nintendo might scold me, but I already announced it, you know.”

We will learn more about the console on January 13th, when the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 has promised to share will share “the exact launch date as well as a look at the line-up of games currently in development.”
