NIS America has announced that they will no longer publish games from ATLUS in Europe, after a fallout with the renowned Japanese developer.

The news was confirmed by NIS America president and CEO Takuro Yamashita, who revealed that after ATLUS were acquired by SEGA it has become “very difficult” to establish an “equal-partnership” between the two companies.

He was still grateful for how their past arrangement has allowed NIS America to expand in Europe, which saw them Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker, and Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight.

“Around ten days ago, we terminated our alliance with ATLUS in Europe and the US,” Yamashita shared with MCV.

“ATLUS became very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by SEGA. It always cherry picked its EU publishing partner based on who offered the highest minimum guarantee on a title by title basis. I noticed that it was very difficult for NIS America to establish an equal-partnership with ATLUS.

“ATLUS and its European games have contributed a lot to the expansion of NIS America in Europe. I would like to express my greatest appreciation to them for that.”
