The Consumer Technology Association has announced the latest honourees that will be inducted into their 2016 Consumer Technology Hall of Fame.
That sees late Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi recognised in the Video Game Futurist category, who had been responsible for successfully transitioning the company from a playing-card creator into a games industry powerhouse.
The Consumer Technology Hall of Fame was created in 2000, paying tribute to those that have advanced innovation and who had once developed a foundation for the consumer technologies we enjoy today.
The inductees were chosen by a group of media and industry professionals, who judged nominations that were submitted by manufacturers, retailers and industry journalists. This year’s inductees are:
Visionary Retailer: Sidney Cooper – Silo
Father of Bluetooth: Dr. Jaap Haartsen – Ericsson
Prominent Distribution Pioneer: David B. Lorsch – DBL Distributing
Transformational Technologist: Chuck Pagano – ESPN
Legendary Journalist: Steve Smith – TWICE Magazine
Home Automation Developer: Joel Spira – Lutron
Pioneering Accessories Executive: Nat Tiffen – The Tiffen Company
Video Game Futurist: Hiroshi Yamauchi – Nintendo
Renowned GPS Developers: Norm Hunt, Ed Tuck, Don Rea – Magellan

The 2016 honourees will be inducted into the 2016 Consumer Technology Hall of Fame in New York at an awards dinner held at the Rainbow Room on Wednesday 9th November 2016.
