Nintendo won’t discuss Wii U launch date or pricing at E3

Nintendo re-confirmed that they will provide more details regarding the Wii U at E3 2012, the console set to launch across Japan, North America, Europe and Australia this year.

However, Nintendo’s global president revealed two aspects that won’t be discussed. Launch date nor pricing.

Whilst we can expect much attention will be placed on the revised hardware and its software line-up, Nintendo will hold off on announcing a launch date and pricing strategy for Wii U.

“Please also be advised that, as we did for previous platforms that were launched in the year-end sales season, we will announce the launch date and price in each market sometime after E3,” Iwata explained.

It’s sensible, in a way. The longer Nintendo hold off on pricing confirmation, the more time that passes and the cheaper the hardware components become – meaning they can adjust the Wii U price accordingly. We hope.
