Nintendo won’t be attending Gamescom 2012

Nintendo have today confirmed that they won’t be attending Gamescom this year, regarded as being the world’s largest trade fair and event show for interactive games and entertainment.

“Although Gamescom is one of the most important fairs for us, we have decided not to participate this year”, Silja Gülicher, Head of Press at Nintendo of Germany, explained within a statement.

“Instead, we are planning to broaden our post-E3 activities to introduce the Wii U, and the latest titles for Nintendo Wii and 3DS, to trade and media partners.

“In addition to this, we are planning to hold a series of events later this year – as part of the pan-European marketing, public relations and event activities – that will offer our fans similar opportunities.”

Gamescom is due to be held in Cologne between August 15-18th 2012.
