Nintendo Switch System Update Version 6.0.0 Hits Next Tuesday

Red Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Switch system update version 6.0.0 will be made available next week, at 5pm PDT (8pm EDT) on Tuesday 18th September.

After the system update has been released, the Nintendo eShop will become inaccessible for three hours while maintenance is performed and, once this is complete, Nintendo Switch Online memberships can be purchased on the Nintendo eShop or Nintendo’s website.

The company has also warned that once you update to the new system update, you can no longer unlink your Nintendo Account from your Nintendo Switch user.

“Prior to this change, it is important to confirm that your Nintendo Account or your child’s Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user,” Nintendo of America explains. “By ensuring that your Nintendo Account is linked to the correct user, you will be able to appropriately manage your save data, Nintendo Switch Online membership, and Nintendo eShop content.”

The system update has already been discovered on the company’s server and data mined, revealing new player profile icons based on Toad, Toadette, Wingo and Draggadon from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, the Save Data Cloud Backup option being added to the Software Information menu, and new controller icons – for Nintendo Entertainment System (or Famicom) and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (or Super Famicom) controllers, specifically.
