Those that are looking forward to playing Snipperclips: Cut it out together!, FAST RMX or Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment will firstly need to download a Nintendo Switch system update.

This will become available on launch day and is required to access the Nintendo eShop, with Nintendo adding that “the system update downloads in the background, is designed to install quickly, and doesn’t disrupt gameplay.”

Nintendo explains that the system update is necessary to add:

  • Access to network features, such as Nintendo eShop, online gameplay, ability to share images to social media, etc.
  • Ability to link Nintendo Accounts to your Nintendo Switch console.
  • Ability to connect online using hotspots that require authentication, such as at a hotel or café. A web applet will open up so the user can sign-in or accept terms of use.

It will also be important for those that have funds in their accounts on Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, as the amount can be carried across to Nintendo Switch. This will require that you first link your Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo Account if you haven’t already done so, to then link your Nintendo Account on Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on Friday 3rd March, priced at £279.99 ($299.99).
