Nintendo Switch Online Update Surprises With Four SEGA Genesis Games

Nintendo has revealed that four new SEGA Genesis games have been made available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.

Once you have downloaded the latest software update (version 2.2.0), you will be able to access these new games which have been added to the service:

  • Comix Zone: Experience an action game in a unique setting based on American comic books. A comic artist finds himself lost in the Comix Zone, and must battle his way through panels of mutants to escape it!
  • Mega Man: The Wily Wars: The first three games in the renowned Mega Man series, compiled for the Genesis / Mega Drive! Beat all three games to unlock Wily Tower, where you can challenge a new boss.
  • Target Earth: This action-packed shooter won many fans for its exhilarating mix of mechsuit platforming and shooting. Earn equipment based on your performance in each stage, and customize your loadout for eight different levels.
  • Zero Wing: This side-scrolling classic was made by Toaplan, a developer of popular shooter games. You have three types of weapons to choose from: Valcan shots, lasers and homing missiles, all of which can be used in the fight against each stage’s boss. Capture items and enemies with the Prisoner Beam and use them as shields or as weapons.

The SEGA Genesis – Nintendo Switch Online collection launched in late October and has since grown to also offer the following games: Alien Soldier, Altered Beast, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Contra: Hard Corps, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Dynamite Headdy, Ecco the Dolphin, Golden Axe, Gunstar Heroes, Light Crusader, Musha, Phantasy Star IV, Ristar, Shining Force, Shining Force II, Shinobi III, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball, Space Harrier II, Streets of Rage 2, Strider, Super Fantasy Zone, Sword of Vermilion, Thunder Force II and ToeJam & Earl.

Nintendo recently revealed that Nintendo Switch Online now has more than 32 million subscribers.

The pricing plans for Nintendo Switch Online are £3.49 ($3.99) per month, £6.99 ($7.99) for three months or £17.99 ($19.99) for 12 months. There is a 12-month Family Membership for £31.49 ($34.99) that allows a Nintendo Account holder to “invite up to seven others to join a family group” that will all have access to Nintendo Switch Online.

Whereas an individual membership to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is priced at £34.99 ($49.99) for 12 months, with a Family Membership priced at £59.99 ($79.99).
