Nintendo has revealed that three new SEGA Genesis games have been made available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
Once you have downloaded the latest software update (version 3.1.1), you will be able to access these new games which have been added to the service:
ESWAT: City Under Siege: Take on crime syndicates as an armor-clad police officer! This Genesis / Mega Drive original picks up half a century after the arcade version left off. As a member of the armored mobile police force known as ESWAT, you’ll rise through the ranks and face formidable foes in your ICE Combat Suit, which can be equipped with five different weapons, such as plasma cannons and rocket launchers. Use the burner to glide through the air. Criminals lurk in prisons, power plants, bio-labs, and other places, waiting to ambush the player with their traps. A boss awaits at the core of each, huge and armed to the teeth, ready to engage in head-to-head combat with ESWAT.
Streets of Rage: In the first of this legendary beat ’em up series, follow the fight of three youths who take on a powerful crime syndicate with nothing but their bare fists. The martial-arts master Axel, boxer Adam, and judo-expert Blaze fight their way through eight stages to reach the syndicate boss. If you don’t stay loyal to your friends until the end, you might face some unexpected twists… Yuzo Koshiro’s thumping soundtrack adds a few extra kicks to the fight.
Super Thunder Blade: Originally released as SEGA’s seventh motion-simulator arcade game, this combat shooter was remade as a launch title for the Genesis / Mega Drive. Pilot the highly mobile, fully-armed helicopter Super Thunder Blade against an onslaught of guerilla fighters. Among your weapons are the Fulcan Cannon and homing missiles. Each stage consists of two scenes: a two-part 3D shooter with a mid-boss in between, and a 2D shooter where you’ll ambush a giant weapon from above. The helicopter’s unique mobility gives you the edge as you hover into combat. Change speeds at will, dive through caves and factories, and reach the enemy’s base!
