Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch Online app will become available for iOS and Android devices next week.

This limited version of the app will firstly be compatible with Splatoon 2, introducing a game-specific service called SplatNet 2 and voice chat services.

It will help players keep in touch with Inkopolis even when they are away from their Nintendo Switch, with the app’s functionality remaining free until the Nintendo Switch Online service launches in 2018.

Those that have the app and Splatoon 2 will be able to track information such as stage rotations, gear, stats and will even let users see their Lifetime Inkage – that will let players see how much turf they have inked compared to real-world places.

But, more importantly, the app will let you invite other players to join Private Battles, League Battles, Splatfest Battles and Salmon Run events over social networks and messaging services, to then talk strategies with those players using voice chat when an online game begins.

Splatoon 2 will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide on July 21st.
