The rumors that surround the Nintendo Switch model revisions – the Nintendo Switch Mini and Nintendo Switch Pro – continue to increase, with Macronix International behind the renewed chatter.
The company is the leading integrated device manufacturer in the Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) market, supplying NOR Flash, NAND Flash, and ROM products.
That has seen them with Nintendo across numerous console generations, including systems such as GameCube, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch.
Taipei Times reports that Macronix International chairman Miin Wu has stated that orders from Nintendo have “exceeded our expectations in the past two months. Demand is better than we thought.”
Such was Nintendo’s demand for ROM memory chips that the company’s revenue was not only boosted to $86.27 million last month – a 30 percent increase compared to April – but resulted in Wu remarking how “very unusual” the situation was.
“That is very unusual, as the first and second quarters are usually slow seasons,” he explained.
At this point, especially after the months of rumors and reports, it’s seemingly clear what that increased memory chip order is being used for.
However, the question that we’re still left with is when will Nintendo reveal these oft-rumored revisions to the world?
