Nintendo Switch has been met with strong launch sales in Japan, even with widespread stock shortages at retail.

Famitsu reports that Nintendo Switch sold 330,637 units across the country, with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild selling 193,060 copies – a 58.39 percent attach rate.

That can be seen as a success, with sales outpacing PlayStation 4 (322,083) and Wii U (308,570), although falling slightly behind Wii (371,936).

For comparison’s sake, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sold 145,068 copies on Wii in Japan, which sat at a lower 39 percent attach rate.

Nintendo will now look to maintain sales momentum over the coming months with a steady release schedule that sees Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Super Mario Odyssey all locked in for 2017.
