Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Update Now Available

Surprise! It wasn’t only the Nintendo Switch system update version 5.0.1 that became available today, with Nintendo having also released an update for their Joy-Con controllers.

As has always been the case, Nintendo hasn’t chosen to explain what the update actually does, but, having performed it on multiple Joy-Con, it seems to be more sizeable for the right Joy-Con compared to the left.

That’s perhaps to be expected, seeing as it has both the NFC touchpoint and IR Motion Camera. And, if I was to speculate, these improvements may have been rolled out shortly before Nintendo Labo arrives next month.

How To Update The Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controllers

1. Select the System Settings on the HOME Menu.
2. Scroll down through the System Settings menu and select Controllers and Sensors.
3. Select Update Controllers, to start the controller update process. Please note that this will only update any Joy-Con controllers that are connected to the Nintendo Switch console.
