With their second quarter financial results now published, Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch has sold 7.63 million units worldwide since it launched in early March.

We last heard that the portable home console had sold 4.7 million units worldwide up until the end of June, meaning that the company has sold another 2.93 million units in the past three months.

While there have been reports that production has been hampered by component shortages, in early October it emerged that Nintendo may now be producing two million Nintendo Switch units per month.

Nintendo Switch software sales have reached 27.48 million copies worldwide, a number that only includes digital sales for any games that have also been released at retail.

The console now has five games that have crossed the million-seller milestone, namely The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (4.7 million copies), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (4.42 million copies), Splatoon 2 (3.61 million copies), 1-2-Switch (1.37 million copies), and ARMS (1.35 million copies).
