Media Create has revealed that more than four million Nintendo Switch consoles have been sold in Japan, as Nintendo continues to maintain momentum behind the portable home console.

That’s 4,036,797 consoles have been sold to be exact, after 40,016 consoles had been sold last week (Monday 2nd – Sunday 8th April 2018) to see it comfortably cross the milestone.

The plucky portable home console has been a success story right from the start, selling 2.74 million units worldwide in March 2017 alone to become the fastest-selling console in Nintendo’s history.

While the console’s production had been hampered by component shortages, the company still managed to sell 10 million consoles by December 2017, and it soon outsold the Wii U in the space of 10 months.
