Nintendo Switch has been swept up in early success, selling 2.74 million units worldwide in March to become the fastest-selling system in the company’s history.

With interest swirling around the console, Eric Bright, GameStop’s senior director of merchandising, has revealed that Nintendo Switch continues to exceed the specialist retailer’s expectations.

That saw him warn that consumers wishing to buy one will need to be quick, with allocated stock selling out in a matter of hours.

“It’s exceeding our expectations,” Bright shared with Forbes. “We knew it would be a high demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours… the demand is so high that consumers have to react quickly to be able to get their hands on them.”

It has been nearly two months since the console launched worldwide, and Nintendo has looked to spur momentum by lining up a strong release schedule that has started with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and will soon welcome Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition, ARMS and Splatoon 2.

“Right now we’re not seeing sales going down at all, and I would expect that to continue for quite some time,” Bright added.
