Across Europe, Nintendo Switch has sold more units over its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history – whether that be home consoles or handhelds.

Even The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has broken the company’s records to become “the biggest-selling Nintendo launch title ever in Europe,” outselling Wii Sports’ first weekend sales in the process.

“We can confirm that, across Europe, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history,” Nintendo UK shared in a press release.

“Launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has not only been bestowed with some of the highest review scores in gaming history, it’s also the biggest-selling Nintendo launch title ever in Europe, even outselling Wii Sports in first weekend sales. And all this in March – traditionally a quiet time for the games industry.”

It has been reported that roughly 80,000 units were sold in the United Kingdom over the launch weekend, while 330,637 units were shifted in Japan.

Nintendo Switch has now launched worldwide, priced at £279.99 ($299.99).
