Neither the Nintendo Switch 2 console, its games, nor its peripherals will be officially sold across Central America or the Caribbean throughout the remainder of the year.
Teletica reports that such a decision was made in a private meeting between Nintendo executives and the company’s official distributors in the region last night, where it was determined that its market was “too small” to justify the console’s launch there.
It was also reportedly confirmed that the company will not take pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2, its games or its peripherals in Central America and the Caribbean this year, even to gauge consumer interest, either.
That will leave its enthusiastic fans to import products through resellers in the United States and elsewhere around the world, once the console is restocked. With heightened prices and the impact of tariffs, it’s hard to know how much that will cost them though.
Nintendo Switch 2 will be released at retailers around the world on 5 June 2025, priced at £395.99 in the United Kingdom, €469.99 across Europe, and $449.99 in the United States.
Wait.. how is it that only ONE person is reporting this? Was Costa Rica the ONLY country in that call!?
I find this all to be too weird.. specially since there’s no official statement or anything from anyone else.
