Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed this week, at long last putting an end to weeks of rumours, leaks and speculation.

That’s according to established insider Nate, who revealed what he has heard about Nintendo’s plans for the portable home console successor’s reveal in the latest episode of Nate the Hate Podcast (Timestamp: 17 mins 36 seconds).

“I can share with you, right now, that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week. I have been told that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday 16 January,” Nate shared.

“It’s just a few days from when this episode will go live. I have heard some details about what will be in the reveal. I consider these details incomplete because it just doesn’t make sense to me, but maybe it will make more sense after the reveal.

“The reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console. There is not going to be any… really, any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen or maybe even a TV screen, depending on how this trailer is put together. But, software is not going to be a focus. So, if this trailer, say, is absent of games, maybe don’t be too surprised about it.

He continued: “I can see it being similar to the October 2016 reveal, but that did have a fairly large focus on the games as well. Like, it did show [The Legend of Zelda] Breath of the Wild. It showed Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It showed [The Elder Scrolls V] Skyrim. It showed NBA 2K[18]. Splatoon 2. They just didn’t name the games, nor did they officially announce some of these games for several more months.

“I don’t think it’s going to be to quite that level. I think it may just be ‘Here’s the system,’ ‘Here’s some of the functionality of the system and the Joy-Con,’ we’ll see the new logo… maybe we even see some of the packaging.

“And then, from what I’ve heard, it should be in late February… towards the tail end of February perhaps early March, depending on how the schedule aligns – these things are fluid they can adjust – Nintendo will have a software showcase for [Nintendo] Switch 2 games. That would be the venue and the presentation where we would see third-party games, Nintendo games… I just have a hard time believing Nintendo would showcase new hardware without a game being shown on the screen in some capacity.

Despite the rumours that continue to flood the Internet, we only officially know that Nintendo has promised to reveal its successor to Nintendo Switch before the end of March 2025 and has confirmed that the hardware will be backwards compatible with the original portable home console.

Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed before 31 March 2025 and is expected to be released around the world in 2025.
