With Nintendo Switch having captured consumer attention around the world, Nintendo has assured that they are still working on a product as part of their Quality of Life (QOL) initiative.

“Moreover, we are working on the development of a new product that improves people’s QOL (Quality of Life) in enjoyable ways,” Nintendo wrote in their Annual Report 2017.

“Our aim is to enable consumers to make daily efforts to improve their QOL in a fun manner by
making sleep and fatigue status visible and offering various services based on this information.”

We had previously heard that Nintendo “development, manufacturing and sale of medical devices and health devices,” and partnering with ResMed to create non-wearable technology that can help measure movement of your body, breathing and heartbeat.

It has been some time since we heard any more on how that was panning out, with Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima sharing in December 2015:

“Mr. Iwata had, when he previously talked about the quality of life initiative, I believe he had talked about it being related to sleep and fatigue.

“And the only information I really have now is to say that the quality of life initiative is still under development, and I have no further information to share. It’s just not at the point in development where I feel I can make any announcements at this time.”
