In their continued efforts to attract independent developers to the console, Nintendo have made plans to secure the MonoGame Framework for Wii U.

Siliconera reports that the open source implementation of the Microsoft XNA 4.x Framework, used for acclaimed games such as Bastion, Fez and Skulls of the Shogun, will help enable developers to create cross-platform games whilst re-using code.

The MonoGame Framework currently supports many platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows (with both DirectX and OpenGL solutions), Linux, Mac OS X, Windows Phone 8, PlayStation Mobile and Ouya.
