Geoff Keighley recently revealed plans for The Game Awards 2014, an independent celebration of the games indsutry that looks to move away from similar shows aired over the past few years by Spike TV.

As with any awards show we can now learn the full nominee list, selected by critics worldwide with Nintendo providing plenty of contenders across many categories. It is Bayonetta 2 that leads the way, nominated not only for Game of the Year – the grand prize if ever there was one – but also for Best Action / Adventure.

Successes elsewhere include Nintendo being nominated as Developer of the Year, Yacht Club Games rocking the Best Independent Game category with Shovel Knight, while Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire are in the running for Best Remaster. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS also make their presence known as does Bravely Default, with the Best Fan Creation category gives nods to the Luigi Death Stare and Twitch Plays Pokémon.
