Nintendo scoops Spike TV Video Game Awards

This year’s Spike TV Video Game Awards took place on Saturday night, at which Nintendo was able to fend off the competition to win a number of prizes themselves.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword lost to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in the hotly contended Game of the Year category, yet was able to win Best Motion Game and Best Wii Game. Whereas Super Mario 3D Land was victorious within the Best Handheld/Mobile Game category.

The Legend of Zelda series itself also received Spike TV’s inaugral Video Game Hall of Fame Award, with creator Shigeru Miyamoto himself making an on-stage appearance to make a short acceptance speech in which he said that the company was humbled by the support of fans.
