In a week that has brought the tragic news that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has passed away, his family, friends and colleagues will celebrate the wonderful life that he led.

Nintendo have confirmed that the funeral service will be held on Friday 17th July, with Reuters sharing that senior managing director Genyo Takeda will lead the committee.

Iwata underwent surgery last year to remove a cancerous growth in his bile duct, from which he had been “recovering steadily.” His condition suddenly deteriorated in the last few days, Nintendo have said, which ultimately led to his untimely death.

Rest in peace, Iwata-san.
