Nintendo of Europe have revealed plans to spur sales of the company’s Nintendo eShop titles at retail by releasing physically boxed copies.
That will see Nintendo Pocket Football Club appear on shelves alongside a Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again dual pack. These will launch in Europe on 16th January 2015 and, while appearing in the standard Nintendo 3DS boxes that you’re familiar with, will contain download codes rather than a cart for the respective games.
It’s an unusual move, especially considering game specific download cards exist, but certainly an opportunity to drive interest in the company’s digital output.
