Nintendo has announced that Miitomo will launch for iOS, Android phones and tables in March.

From February 17th, users will be able to preregister for Miitomo by creating a Nintendo Account using either their Nintendo Network ID, social media accounts or email address – letting them become the first to be notified by the app’s availability in March.

Miitomo is Nintendo’s first app that has been made exclusively for smart devices, and is a social experience that uses Mii characters to let players “engage friends in a lighthearted, playful and welcoming social setting.”

Players will interact with their friends in fun and interesting conversations by answering questions, with Nintendo’s examples including “What song has been stuck in your head lately?,” “Do you believe in aliens?,” or even, “If you saw a nose hair sticking out of your friend’s nose, what would you do?”

The aim is that players will discover surprising information and secrets about their friends, and can easily take and share photos of their Mii using the Miifoto feature.

The My Nintendo rewards program will launch alongside Miitomo in March, and can connect with Miitomo. A special Miitomo bonus will be offered to anyone that creates a Nintendo Account between 17th February and Miitomo’s launch in March. It is promised that Miitomo users with a Nintendo Account can use My Nintendo to enhance their experience.

Miitomo will launch in the following countries in March: the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, U.S., Canada. Preregistration is only available in these countries.

Miitomo at launch will support the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Japanese.
