Nintendo of America have somewhat covertly launched digital purchases for first-party Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles through their official website.

This is for both pre-orders and already released titles, and you can see the current selection here. For Nintendo 3DS that includes Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Tomodachi Life, while Wii U dishes up the likes of Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

Virtual Console and Nintendo eShop titles are also available, and, if you ‘check out’ with your Nintendo Network ID, you can send your purchase directly to your console. If that’s not possible you will be sent an email with a code to redeem in the Nintendo eShop, and, more significantly, you can gift games to other players now too! Hurrah!
