Nintendo Network IDs were introduced to many 3DS owners for the first time yesterday, alongside the handheld’s most recent system update becoming available.
Now a necessity to access Miiverse and download free applications and demos, it seems the sudden influx of people registering their accounts has overwhelmed the Nintendo eShop, which transfers your account activity to your newly created Nintendo Network ID.
“We are aware that some users are experiencing issues accessing Nintendo eShop at the moment,” Nintendo shared through a SpotPass notification.
“This is due to the fact that it has become possible to link a Nintendo Network ID with a Nintendo 3DS system. When Nintendo eShop is started for the first time after the linkage, the previous account activity is transferred to the Nintendo Network ID. Because more simultaneous transfer processes are taking place than anticipated, some users are experiencing service disruptions to Nintendo eShop.
“We are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thanks you for your patience.”
