Competitive spirit descended on Mayfair’s The Music Room this past weekend, as Pokémon Trainers of all ages from across the country looked to secure victory at the Pokémon X & Y Battle Tournament 2014 Grand Final.
Comedian Johnny Vegas and Robert “PokéRob” Kendall were the perfect hosts, steering proceedings throughout the day after they’d drawn which tables the 100-odd attendees would be competing on. Johnny even revealed that he’d successfully convinced a parent that he was Peter Kay, resulting in much laughter.
Snaps were taken with wandering costumed Pokémon X & Y starters Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie, prize wheels were spun, and pizza was eaten, but the crux of the day remained in competitors looking to secure themselves the four titles up for grabs: Pokémon Apprentice, Junior Expert, Pokémon Ultimate Team, and Ultimate Pokémon Expert.
It was a hard fought competition, but five players reigned supreme. Congratulations to those that secured themselves a victory, and for those that didn’t – keep training and success will come!
Ultimate Pokémon Expert
Oliver Reilly of Edge Hill, Wimbledon
Pokémon Ultimate Team
Francis and Joshua Jones of Lantern Way, West Drayton
Junior Expert
