Nintendo Love Prince Sidon As Much As You Do

It didn’t take long for Prince Sidon to become a fan-favourite character in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, endlessly cheering Link on as he treks toward Zora’s Domain and helping him to deactivate Vah Ruta.

Nintendo loves him, too. When asked whether they expected fans to react to the character as strongly as they have, The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma and game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi reasoned that they too fell in love with the character’s punchy enthusiasm.

“It’s interesting when we were creating this Prince Sidon character and working on his dialogue, he was kind of overly enthusiastic at first,” Fujibayashi explained.

“We thought it was a bit too much, but as we adjusted his dialogue and improved it, we also came to love his character. So, where he ended up, it makes a lot of sense that people like him.”

Aonuma added: “Actually, the initial colour of Prince Sidon’s body was blue, but since he’s meant to be Mipha’s brother, he obviously wouldn’t have looked like a sibling. That’s why we gave him a pink-ish colour.

“I really enjoyed Sidon’s character, so I requested several design changes to make sure he would actually look like Mipha’s sibling.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Wii U worldwide.
