Nintendo Interested In Advance Wars Return

It has been some time since Advance Wars: Day of Ruin on Nintendo DS, and, while the Fire Emblem series has made a resounding return, Intelligent Systems is yet to turn their attention to their other revered turn-based strategy series.

Now, Nintendo has shed light on why it has remained absent, in that, while staff are keen to develop a new game, they are unsure as to how it could integrate the relationship-building mechanics that Fire Emblem has become known for.

“Personally, I’d love to do Advance Wars, but since it’s harder to create relationships between its characters compared to Fire Emblem, I don’t have a clear idea of what kind of setting it could have,” Nintendo producer Hitoshi Yamagami explained to Eurogamer.

“The Advance Wars series is one that I personally have a lot of interest in,” Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia producer Masahiro Higuchi added. “I hear some of the staff here saying that they want to make one too, so if we have a chance it’s something I’d like to do!”

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is now available exclusively on Nintendo 3DS worldwide.
