Discussing The Legend of Zelda Wii U‘s unexpected absence from E3 2015, Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that Nintendo prefer to show “what’s coming out in the immediate future.”

That isn’t to say that they aren’t aware that everyone was disappointed at the news, with Miyamoto promising that they “have some really great Zelda footage” to share.

More importantly, amid speculation that the project is shifting to NX, he reiterated that Link’s new adventure “is still coming to Wii U.”

“We’re here to talk about Star Fox but Zelda is still coming to Wii U, so don’t worry about that,” Miyamoto clarified to IGN.

“My thing with E3 is that we always focus on what’s coming out in the immediate future. We have some really great Zelda footage and, at some point we will be showing that off, but not today.”

The Legend of Zelda Wii U will release for Wii U in 2016.
