While it has been confirmed that there will be no option to change Link’s gender in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nintendo has contemplated making a spin-off title that stars a female protagonist.

Those conversations have circled around Sheik, Princess Zelda’s secretive identity in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The character has remained popular through appearances in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS as well as Hyrule Warriors, and that interest hasn’t gone unnoticed according to creative fellow Shigeru Miyamoto.

“Within the development team, too, there have been talks about how it might be cool to have a game that features Sheik as a protagonist,” Miyamoto admitted to Game Rant. “It’s having maybe a Zelda spin-off with Sheik as a protagonist, for example, I don’t think that’s an impossibility.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release exclusively for Nintendo NX and Wii U in 2017.
