Nintendo granted patent for handheld console and software emulation

Nintendo have been granted a patent that they previously filed in October 2003, Engadget report.

The patent, passed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), provides ownership of a method in which video game consoles bearing built-in displays may be emulated, as well as accompanying software on external computing devices.

Whilst presumably providing further legal protection against any potential law suits in regards to the company’s enormously successful handheld history, it remains unclear as to whether Nintendo have any plans to utilise such patent.
