Nintendo Gala to host UK premiere of The Sapphires

The UK premiere of The Sapphires will take place during the Nintendo Gala at the 56th BFI London Film Festival, held in partnership with American Express.

Beforehand, attendees will be able to see the winning entry to the recently launched A Vision in 3D competition, encouraging filmmakers to submit short 3D films recorded using filming modes on the Nintendo 3DS.

With the campaign being supported by Ridley Scott, these are based upon a central ‘British Summer 2012’ theme, with the competition winner being granted the opportunity to be mentored by director Asif Kapadia and AV innovator Stuart Warren-Hill – the outcome of which will see them shoot a new short film on location in London.

Three runners-up will also receive tickets to the BFI London Film Festival, and a BFI Membership for one year if they are over 18, or a one-year subscription to Sight and Sound Magazine if they are under 18.
