It has emerged that Nintendo filed a trademark for “QOL”, presumably in reference to their future Quality of Life platform, back in January, covering a relatively large spread of devices, merchandise and other health-related products.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata had outlined their new business strategy, which is expected to launch during the April 2015 – March 2016 fiscal year, during the company’s corporate management policy briefing.

This will see them continue to reinvent entertainment as “something that improves people’s quality of life in enjoyable ways”, which will be achieved through “non-wearable” technologies that they are currently researching – inspiration for such new direction having been drawn from their successes with titles such as Wii Fit and Brain Age.
