Nintendo explain lack of Pokémon amiibo patterns in Yoshi’s Woolly World

Yoshi’s Woolly World producer Takashi Tezuka has given a tepid reason as to why Pokémon amiibo in the Super Smash Bros. Collection don’t unlock costumes in the Wii U exclusive.

With so many supported, those that have excitedly scanned Pikachu, Lucario, Jigglypuff, Greninja, or Mewtwo amiibo were left somewhat dissatisfied that the resulting transformation saw Yarn Yoshi snuggle into an amiibo-branded t-shirt.

“With the amiibo designs, we had to think about what characters could be represented authentically to the character in the Yoshi form, and so we couldn’t do every single amiibo,” Tezuka explained to Game Informer. “We did some trial and error and, unfortunately, we didn’t make these ones and have Yoshi wearing an amiibo t-shirt.”

We’re not entirely convinced, but at least Nintendo continue to support amiibo that have steadily been released over the past few months…
