Nintendo expected to post significant financial loss

Nintendo are on the precipice of announcing an estimated annual operating shortfall of 18.7 billion yen, according to Bloomberg.

Analysts predict an operating profit of 70 billion yen for the new fiscal year, yet this falls short of global president Satoru Iwata’s commitment.

Earlier this year, Iwata promised that he would seek to achieve 100 billion yen in operating profit within the next fiscal year, commenting that he may consider resigning if this wasn’t accomplished.

Whilst last week brought an impressive slate within the company’s Nintendo 3DS Direct, there is still not enough of an incentive for consumers to purchase the Wii U.
