Today’s Nintendo Direct saw the company announce that they have entered a worldwide partnership with SEGA.

Such a move will see the next three Sonic the Hedgehog games remain exclusive to Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, the first of which being Sonic Lost World, and Mario & Sonic at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. A third, unannounced Sonic title will complete such negotiated partnership at present.

“We’re delighted to be forming this new partnership with SEGA, and bringing new games in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise to Nintendo systems,” said Laurent Fischer, managing director of European marketing and PR at Nintendo of Europe. “We hope fans are as excited as we are when more details will be shown closer to E3.”
