Nintendo Download list: 13th June 2013 (Europe)

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the undoubted highlight amid this week’s Nintendo Download list, as the game prepares to descend upon Europe.

Elsewhere there’s plenty of Game Gear arrivals on Virtual Console, and a slew of retail games becoming available digitally for the first time.

* Mario & Yoshi, Nintendo – £0.30 (€0.30), will be £3.49 (€4.99) from July 12th
Part of the Family Computer 30th Anniversary Campaign. Mario & Yoshi is a fast-paced NES puzzle game in which you must mix and match falling characters and piece together eggshells to free the Yoshi trapped inside. Simply move Mario back and forth to catch the falling Little Goombas, Boo Buddies, Bloopers and Piranha Plants. Capture creatures between two eggshell halves and you’ll release a Yoshi; the more creatures you capture, the larger the Yoshi and the bigger the bonus! Mario & Yoshi also features a split-screen, simultaneous two-player mode that brings Luigi into play.

This is the US version of the game with the European title screen.

* The Path of the Warrior Art of Fighting 3, D4 Enterprise – 900 Points
Released in 1996, Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior is a fighting game set in Grasshill Valley, where drama and battles unfold among various fighters. Aside from the protagonists Ryo and Robert, this instalment has all-new characters. Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior features powerful airborne combos, more efficient parrying manoeuvers, the ability to inflict damage to downed opponents, and the Ultimate K.O., which allows characters to win a match in just one round. Furthermore, the graphics are based off of motion capture technology rendering them smoother than ever before, making it one of the most innovative 2D fighting games at the time.

Drift back in time to a bygone civilisation, the ancient world of Phoenicia. Play a game that originated among the Phoenician merchants. It’s incredibly captivating, yet easy to pick up. You’ll find yourself losing track of time!

* Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, SEGA – £2.69 (€2.99)
The evil Dr. Eggman (AKA Dr. Robotnik) has built a machine that will turn the poor people of Beanville into machines, but there’s safety in numbers! In this colourful puzzle game, help them out by pairing them into groups of four matching colours so they can stick together and escape certain doom!

* Shining Force: Sword of Hajya, SEGA – £3.59 (€3.99)
The peaceful Kingdom of Cypress has been disrupted by the corrupt ambition of the evil King Iom. Terror rampages across the land as the Castle of Cypress is invaded and the magical Sword of Hajya is taken! It will take strength, courage, agility and your keen sense of strategy to defy this ominous power and bring peace back to the land.

* Sonic the Hedgehog, SEGA – £4.49 (€4.99)
Get into gear with Sonic the Hedgehog! Originally released for the Game Gear, play as Sonic as he
speeds through zones and frees animals from their mechanical prisons with his devastating spin attacks! Blaze through five super challenging zones and defeat all of Dr. Eggman’s (AKA Dr. Robotnik) machines in order to put an end to his evil schemes!

* Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Nintendo – £34.99 (€39.99) from June 14th
