As has become the case over the Christmas period, Nintendo have once again dominated the Japanese software chart with sixteen platform exclusive titles appearing within the top twenty.
Mario Kart 7 topped the chart achieving sales of 260,836 units, and denied newcomer Musou Orochi Z the top spot. Super Mario 3D Land also placed third, seeing sales of 174,566 units. As previously reported both key Nintendo 3DS releases have now soared past lifetime sales of a million units.
Monster Hunter 3G also saw strong continued sales allowing it to place fourth, with 155,069 units sold amounting to a lifetime total of 885,456 units.
What can perhaps be deemed a surprise is that no PlayStation Vita games made it into the chart, Sony’s latest handheld having launched on December 17th.
