We’ve salivated, speculated and pondered the mysterious image that emerged from the Pokémon Game Show over the weekend, with many being led to believe it signalled the direction for an unannounced Wii U title.

Yet The Pokémon Company have now dismissed it as being “merely conceptual,” though if it provides any indication to what they’re currently experimenting with there’s still plenty to be excited about.

“There is nothing to announce at this time. These are merely conceptual images,” a spokesperson explained to Kotaku.

Pokkén Fighters and Pokkén Tournament trademarks filed by the company are still shrouded in secrecy though, but we’ll surely learn what they are for in future.

  1. I think pokemon should all look like dogs. They shouldn’t be in balls or games and should kept as pets and bark.

  2. Of course they are going to brush this off…. What it does signal that they are currently making prototypes of a console game…. this is just the best one they came up with so far.

We will probably hear more about it at E3 2014. Nintendo has to know they need a Pokemon console game to move massive amount of systems.

I do hope your being sarcastic

But that aside, one would be very eager for a pokemon mmo, or even a full game rendered in a 3d environment and be required to utilize the network to make the necessary trades. If they made this also fully compatable trading, trainer battles and all, with the 3ds games x and y, i see big fortunes for nintendo. There is alot of potential for the wii u and we just need a good reason to buy into it.
