Nintendo will show Wii U several games at E3 2014 that are nearing completion or in the early stages of development, according to global president Satoru Iwata.

Whilst Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. are being seen as pillars in the console’s release schedule, Shigeru Miyamoto and the company’s internal development teams are hard at work crafting “unique experiences” that are only possible with the Wii U GamePad. These will be shown at the trade show, and serve as an effort to showcase their original vision for the hardware.

“I only mentioned the Wii U software Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U today, but of course, we are going to talk about other Wii U titles at E3 in Los Angeles in June,” Iwata explained during a Q&A session at the company’s Financial Results Briefing.

“Also, our internal software development teams directed by Shigeru Miyamoto are committed to developing several titles that focus on offering unique experiences only made possible with the Wii U GamePad in order for a large number of people to understand the Wii U GamePad’s significance. The titles we are preparing to show you at E3 vary from being nearly complete to still in the early phases of development but with the core of its appeal noticeable.”
