Nintendo detail Pokémon X & Y’s Torchic Distribution event

Confirmed alongside the announcement that Mega Evolutions would be introduced for the first time, Nintendo have detailed how those that purchase either Pokémon X or Pokémon Y can receive their free Torchic.

The distribution event, which starts on Saturday 12th October, will allow you to receive a special Torchic by selecting Mystery Gift from the main menu and searching through the Nintendo Network, and will end worldwide on Wednesday 15th January 2014.

You’ll then receive the chirpy critter holding the Blazikenite, which is the Mega Stone needed for Blaziken’s fearsome Mega Evolution – which you can see above.

Torchic has the Hidden Ability Speed Boost, that increases a Pokémon’s Speed at the end of every turn and which isn’t available to Torchic’s found normally. The Level 10 Torchic that you receive knows the moves Scratch, Growl, Focus Energy, and Ember, which will hopefully prove more than enough for it to handle itself whilst levelling up.
