Nintendo deny Miiverse hack claims

Nintendo have denied that the Wii U has been hacked within hours of going on sale.

NeoGAF user Trike had unwillingly managed to access a debug menu for the system’s Miiverse, which sent the Internet into a frenzy of hack speculation.

Nintendo has now clarified that Trike had inadvertently stumbled upon a “mock up menu,” which has since been disabled.

“It has come to our attention that some people were able to access a mock up menu on Miiverse following the launch of Wii U in the US,” Nintendo explained in an official statement provided to GamesIndustry International.

“Please note that this was only a mock up menu and has now been removed and is not accessible.”
